WHY SOME IT PROVIDERS ARE CHEAPER
Cheaper isn't always a better deal. Here's what you're trading away.
When you see an IT provider quoting significantly less than others, there's almost always a reason. Understanding those trade-offs lets you decide if they're ones you're comfortable making.
What cheaper providers typically offer
-
Reactive support only - they fix things when you report them, but nobody's watching in the background
-
Offshore helpdesks - lower labour cost, but slower and often unfamiliar with Mac environments
-
Generic tools not built for Macs - Windows-first platforms bolted onto Apple environments
-
No named contact - whoever picks up has knowledge of your setup
-
No proactive security monitoring - threats go undetected until they cause visible damage
What you get with Counterpoint
-
Proactive monitoring - we watch for threats and issues before you notice them
-
UK-based team - people who know your setup, your industry, and your tools
-
Mac-first from day one - not an afterthought, our core specialism
-
A named lead - someone who has deep knowledge of your business - consistent and accountable
-
Active security protection - real-time detection and response, not just antivirus
WHY SOME IT PROVIDERS COST MORE
More presence, protection, and most importantly, peace of mind
Higher-priced IT support isn't just more of the same. It's a fundamentally different kind of relationship that was a whole different feel. It's where you should expect your IT partner to actively be improving your security, showing up in person, and thinking ahead about what your business needs next.
What you get at the higher end
-
A human security team monitoring your devices and network 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
-
Regular onsite visits, where someone who physically comes to your office and knows your team
-
A named account lead with deep knowledge of your business, not a rotating helpdesk
-
Ongoing security improvement meaning your protection gets stronger month on month
-
Compliance readiness built in, where we handle your Cyber Essentials or client security questionnaires
-
Strategic input from our experts, not just fixing what breaks, but helping you make better decisions over time

Frequently Asked Questions
What's included in the onboarding fee?
The onboarding fee covers the engineering time to enrol your devices, configure your security baseline, deploy protection tools, and make sure everything is working properly before your first month begins. It's a one-off cost, there are no recurring setup charges.
We're mostly Mac. Can you support that?
Yes, this is one of our core specialism. We work with creative agencies, which means Mac environments are the norm for us, not an edge case. All our tooling and expertise are built around Apple and Window hybrid teams.
We use freelancers regularly. How does that work?
Flex Seat is designed exactly for this. We set up their access, apply the right protections, and remove everything cleanly when the engagement ends. Anyone who needs a company email or is long-term embedded moves to a full seat at a discounted rate.
What if I'm not sure which plan is right for us?
Book a free discovery call. We'll ask about your team, your setup, and what's causing friction. We'll give you an honest recommendation, with no obligation and no sales pressure. If something other than Counterpoint is a better fit, we'll say so.
